Chikmagalur is a town located in the Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Located in the foothills of the Mullayanagiri range, the town with its favorable climate and coffee estates attracts tourists from around the state. National Highway 173 (India) passes through the town connecting it with the state capital Bangalore, located 250 kilometers (160 mi) away.

Most of the accommodations at Chikmagalur are exclusively styled, set amidst lush plantations and have scenic views of the surrounding mountain ranges - Prakruthi homestay is one among the beautiful stay situated on the mountain top , in the midst of Nature’s abundance.
 It's a bungalow on the Nature's hill. Nestled stately in western ghats close by to some of the holy places in the malnad region .this homestay will be an ideal stopover with serene setting with overlooking some of the most picturesque forests.

We were a small group of friends.. ladies and
kids who made the trip to Prakruthi - in month of November - 2016  where in we had a wonderful experience with the landscape, trek to their coffee plantation was  a sight which never been forgotten.

The friendly Host Ashwatha and Pradeep were very caring and more keen on keeping the guest happy , were enthusiastic to take us to watch the sunset to the close by Tea estate .

Basking in the glorious malnad atmosphere and indulging on self in the lavish leisure is no longer the preserve of the rich and the elite.

The homestay lies away from chikmagalur away from the crowed and very close to Balehonnur, Sringeri Sri Sharadha temple offers a glimpse of rich tradition of Kannada Samskrity and the temples and many historical monuments strewn all over these places takes us to our hoary past, Mullyyana giri, Bababudan giri Kemmannugundi and Kudremukha etc., throws handful of challenges and invites to satisfying adventures and Jagadguru Rambhapuri Veerasimhasana Mahasamasthna Peeta, it is situated on the banks of River Bhadra in Balehonnur.

The Rivers Tung, Bhadra Vedavathy, Hemavathy and Yagachi offers scope for water sports and the breathtaking waterfalls they create are a delightful treat to the eyes.



 Sightseeing places from the homestay -

Horanadu Annapoorneshwari Temple 

This is a very ancient shrine and the main deity of Annapoorna is made of gold. Every visitor to the Annapoorna temple at Horanadu, irrespective of their religion, language, caste, or creed, is provided with a three-course vegetarian meal.Its a belief that It is believed that a person who seeks the goddess' blessings would never have any scarcity for food in life.

Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri

Sringeri is one of the four Peethams established by the renowned 8th century philosopher saint Sri Adi Shankara, the principal exponent of Advaita (non-dualism) theology. Goddess Sharada is the presiding deity of the temple, which is one of the most important of Hindu shrines.

Bhadra River

Balehonnur is a small city in the Chikkamagaluru district of the Indian of Karnataka. It is located on the bank of the Bhadra River and is a green, picturesque place, with an average rainfall of 80 inches a year and is dominated by coffee estates, arecanut, paddy fields, pepper, vanilla and other spices. It is the location of the main Hindu Matha belonging to veerashiva pantha called Sri Rambhapuri Matha, one of the oldest temples in Karnataka.

Kudremukh 

Kudremukh literally means 'horse-face' and refers to a spectacular view of a face of the mountain that looks like the head of a horse. Natural grasslands and thick shoal forests makes the greenery of this park in the sequence of rolling hills in the northern, eastern and central regions of the town. Kudremukh National Park is a part of the majestic Western Ghats, which is famous for bio-diversity conservation.

AGUMBE

Agumbe is situated 560 meters above sea level on the Sahyadri ranges, and is aptly called the Cherapunji of South India as it receives an average rainfall of 7000-8000mm annually. These pristine forests are also famous for a variety of wildlife .Agumbe is one of the most scenic places on the Western Ghats. Added to the lush green view all around, the attractions for the visitors is the spectacular sunset and vast opportunities it offers to the trekkers..

Sirimane falls

Sirimane Falls is located at a distance of 5 km from Kigga near Sringeri. Though relatively small when compared to the other great waterfalls of Western Ghats, there is no compromise in the beauty of Sirimane Waterfalls. Best time to visit Sirimane Falls is immediately after monsoon to enjoy the gush of abundant water down the fall.

Kuppali

Kuppali is the birthplace of ‘Kuvempu’, the poet laureate of Karnataka. Kuppali is situated near Thirthahalli in Shimoga district. The Kuppalli house, which is today a museum dedicated to the legendary poet, is like a mini fortress as thick walls surround all sides with a large main entrance. The strong rough walls have withstood the natural vagaries of the hilly forest terrain. The upstairs of the Kuppali house opens to east. There are windows on all sides. A view from the upstairs provides a beautiful picture of the thick forest of the Sahyadri region

 Chikkamagaluru attracts many tourists especially from India due its scenic locations and nearby hill stations such as Kudremukh, Mullayanagiri, Kalasa, Koppa, Sringeri, Balehonnur and Mudigere.

Baba Budangiri is a mountain in the Baba Budan range of the Western Ghats of India. Located in the Chikkamagaluru District of Karnataka, Baba Budangiri is known for its shrine to the Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims.

Mulayyanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka, India. Mullayyanagiri is located at 13°23′26″N 75°43′18″E in the Chandra Dhrona Hill Ranges of the Western Ghats of Chikkamagaluru Taluk.

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area and a Project Tiger, tiger reserve located 38 km. Northwest of Chikkamagaluru town in Karnataka state, India. Bhadra sanctuary has a wide range of flora and fauna and is a popular place for day outings.
